another day on the way

So we left Twin Falls ID after breakfast. We headed to Shoshone Falls, the falls east of the town of Twin Falls but not the actual "Twin Falls" (which are a bit further down the road).

loved this creation myth...

From there we headed to the City of Rocks.  Then down to the Utah and Idaho border via the City of Rocks which were some impressive rock formations from volcanoes action between 300 million to a few billion years ago. Photos don't really do it justice because there were no climbers out in the 96* heat (cooler than the last few days of 100+).

the next three fit together and the fourth is the full view-

just before we entered the City of Rocks- this attractive condo development for the avian population....

We passed into Utah just before 1 pm and I was floored that you could still see some snow on the north face of some of the mountains - the temperature was climbing.

As we traveled south towards Provo from the Park City area we found absolutely every possible parking spot taken in every place for watercraft to enter the Deer Creek Reservoir. By the afternoon, it was skirting 100* and anyone who had a paddle board, wind surfing gear, kayak, jet ski, pontoon boat, or motor boat was out today. No photos - couldn't find a place to even stop much less a parking spot. The roads leading to the areas for entrance to the water were literally lined with cars. My estimate of 500 along the reservoir's east side might be low.

We dined on BBQ that night - pretty decent fare-

The next morning we were off after finding an excellent choice for breakfast! Heading to Colorado by sundown!

on more day on the road before we overnight in the Grand Junction area and then skedaddle into Denver before lunch time the following day.... still more great scenery ahead.
