more martime

This time we headed to the Calvert Maritime Museum- it has a different slant than the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and is a bit more "all ages" than the Chesapeake - which seem more adult oriented to me... we take back roads (per usual) and end up at the end of the peninsula leading to Point Lookout

on the way there - we found this cute hydrant- for the maritime biological research station near town-

and oddly enough his real life counterpart had an exhibit in the museum-

then off to Point Lookout-

on the road to Historic St Mary's we spied a picturesque barn and church-

Historic St Mary's was closed on Mondays but we walked around the grounds even with none of the buildings open we still got to see quite a bit-

By now it was closing in on 4 PM and we were quite hungry so I looked on the "near me" part of google maps and found this place - an absolute dive but it was food.... and we were hungry-

provisioned for the remainder of our drive north today - we headed across the state into VA to circumvent the drive through DC and headed north to the area of Frederick and Hagerstown, MD for a day of civil war at Antietam the following morning-  so stay tuned as we round the bases and get ready to head for home on this 2017 edition DART trip.
