touring- the best parts of Casa de Pilatos

So before I start overloading you with photos of Casa de Pilatos let me say that I think we all wish we had a "garage" like theirs.  Instead of old pieces of lumber and maybe  a workbench, these folks are so rich they have relics just sitting around in the "driveway"

It was (to me) a beastly hot day - 87-88* F and no breeze. The good news was there were plenty of shady sections even in the outdoor areas. This is the ground floor only. I also did the guided (required) tour upstairs, which was a private residence until well into this century.

The gardens were lovely. The tile work (allegedly more individual designs than even the Alcazar) was magnificent. Don't worry I didn't photograph every tile design in the house. But you can follow along to see some of the beauty of this centuries old building.

Since I had rushed to the upper floor tour first, I came down the main stairs - to the beautiful central courtyard.

From here the vast majority of the photos need no explanation - the central courtyard is the hub the gardens are the spokes and in between are the "rooms" each of which is tiled in a wide variety of designs.

then on the garden on the other side of the casa

and finally the original entrance which is now a courtyard area (and location of the "facilities.")

an enjoyable tour only marred by the unrelenting heat which was luckily slightly reduced on the shaded benches of the gardens. I grabbed a cab back to Plaza San Francisco and the Ayuntamiento and walked across the Plaza Nueva to our home (saving an additional 20 minutes in the cab) which had to go all the way around the city center to drop me off  right at home. Both the cab driver and I were happy with the result.  I sat in the AC and cooled off before making myself a dinner of salads  LOL.

next up Palacio de Las Duenas. stay tuned...
