on to León

Lunch in León.  Good food and good service. A nice meal after yet another ordeal at Chamartín Station. That place is a total mess! Train delayed 25 minutes+ due to no track???? Seriously? But we arrived and checked into our hotel and ate and drank our cares away at lunch at Casa Mando.

We shared the cecina - a Leon specialty

We shared a salad with warm shrimp

Evi had the chipraones

I had the tiradito - wonderful!

Phil had the cochinillo with peaches

Claus had the lentejas with perdiz (partridge)

We walked back to the hotel via the old city streets and the cathedral - which was bathed in late afternoon light - a spectacular cathedral. Worthy of a visit- and it is apparently very regularly visited as it is a stop on the Camino (the route de Santigao de Compostela.)

The cathedral gets it own post so I will end this one with a photo of a family group posing in front of the Cathedral at the sign for León. More to follow...
