in between

We have a week plus- after david & family left and before we leave for France.  We have actually been eating this week, but somehow photos escaped me. We both have had colds and are focused on soup! one night we tried Ricca again. MEH big time again. We are done with that place.

And, one night we went to 10 Second Rice Noodles for their agripicante soup with lemongrass and ginger. It comes boiling hot and was perfect for opening up sinuses. Last night we started our sushi dinner with miso soup. And tomorrow Chinese for hot and sour. So you can see our current focus.

Meanwhile our meal at Hiyoki was its usual excellent service and we had mostly sashimi of salmon, tuna, toro, and pez mantequilla. Filled in with two tapas rolls and a couple of ikura and unagi. Hit the spot.

We also celebrated Clarence's 17th birthday on March 21!  Happy 17th birthday to our Grand-cat Clarence. ❣️🎂🎉🎂❣️

Then a dinner at Afuego, which has some home style food - My favorite salad in the city - spinach, strawberry, feta, fig, frisée, other lettuces, cherry tomatoes, pickled shallots. These folks know how to put together a fresh feast. We also had the slow cooked beef rib and a grilled pork chop to share (still brought some home as we couldn't finish it.) Oh, and they have good cocktails too!

Sunday night at MING 2  Another soup night. We both had hot and sour soup at MING on Santa Patronas. It was hot and good! After the soup, we shared fried rice and I had the peking pork pancakes and Phil had shrimp with cashews and broccoli. Then we stopped at MITO to see Helena. Things have started to get crazy here with people! The influx has already started for Semana Santa which begins in less than a week. The viewing stands in plaza San Francisco are already set up and draped in red velvet. The crowds will just grow larger until after Easter.

Another excellent meal at Malandro. I was extremely happy with the salad of spinach, avocado, sun dried tomatoes, and burrata. Phil was pleased with his carpaccio. We shared the skirt and rib eye steaks and still had some to "para llevar"  A nice walk home in warmer weather. The restaurant is located abutting the back side of the bullring about two blocks from the Guadalqivir River.

A return to Chicarreros - sadly it did not fare as well in the lead up to Semana Santa as it did mid-winter. Service was not as attentive - even downright slow, food was still good but the first meal there had a wow factor in every course, tonight it was hit or miss. Still worthy but prices were substantially increased for the upcoming holiday. Haven't made up my mind about this one yet.

Then the night before wee left for France we had a qick meal at Casa Juan Paloma- a tapas bar we like for its traditional tortilla (con cebolla) and it's carpaccio de gambon and the anchoas y sardina. Phil is also a big fan of the arroz.

Well, we are definitely in "primavera" here in Sevilla. 73* and blue sky today and the plane trees are now showing green leaves rather than spotty brown and yellow remnants from last winter. We ran some errands, as we are off to France for the next week. (where we will not have spring weather quite yet.) When we return we will have seven guests over @six weeks. Fun in Spain! #ExpatLife

On the following day we were off to France to revisit the Dordogne area and stay for weight days in Sarlat. Stay tuned...
