So no trip to Oregon would be complete without a visit to wine country. We broke our visit up into two days - visiting DDO, Argyle, Roco and Ponzi on Friday and Bergstrom and JK Carriere on Saturday... the weather was glorious and so were the wines-
We started Friday with lunch at the Dundee Bistro (both of us picked burgers- which are very good there!)
the new Ponzi tasting room is magnificent with killer views!
the Saturday visiting included Carriere and Bergstrom-
Mt Hood peeks above the trees and the vines---
a view from the road -
a new deck at the Bergstrom Tasting Room - is a nice addition- with special seating for club members-
Then it was back to town and the party at S&S home for Al-
the week of partying has tired out little Lucy - LOL
so we met Steve for lunch on Monday on our way out of town- at Bunk's sandwich shop-
an excellent Cubano (Steve and me) and a meatball sandwich for Phil- then we were off to PDX and back home around 10 PM - in time to start laundry and get ready for our visit from Cousin Iddo!!! so stay tuned-

We Do PDX - the Rose Garden
After the Japanese Garden - we had some time before meeting Steve- so we went down to the International Rose Test Garden to "stop and smell the roses" LOL- many years when we visit this same weekend the roses are spent but this year they were in bloom - many just in bud and it was a perfect time to visit!
A visitor looking for a new hair color? LOL
a tiny bit of clematis hiding out in the roses- LOL
these were amazing- they flowered in all three (red, yellow and combo) on one bush!
so this was serendipity because I would have skipped the rose garden based upon prior visits at this time of year and yet - this time things were all a-bloom to greet us!

We Do PDX - the Japanese Garden!
So after lunch on Thursday we decided to visit the Japanese Garden - which is really one of the top in North America - small and exquisite - it evokes the serenity and beauty of Kyoto on a limited hillside plot of land...
a cute cat on a poster I spied as we left the garden....
up next- the rose garden!
