inside the palacio

This is a real family home with amazing history - really not knowable to the plebes of the planet like myself but the Dukes of Alba regularly entertained very high falutin' guests. Various royalty and folks like Jackie Kennedy... They have an amazing collection of original posters (which we have every year in Sevilla) for Feria and Semana Santa. Before we get into those I will show you the two from the years we have been living here-

Now back to the extensive collection of the Dukes of Alba...

And in no particular order - the rooms I saw and the courtyard of the building where these rooms were located:

The coat of arms for the Alba-Berwick family

overall an interesting home with really wonderful gardens worth the walk across town and back - luckily the weather was a bit cooler today than it was on Friday when I last ventured to one of the stately homes of Sevilla. Stay tuned - we still have two more on the calendar...

the gardens of the Palacio de las dueñas

The gardens were lovely even at the end of a hot dry summer- I bet they are magnificent in the spring after the rains and cooler temperatures.

The entrance to the palace grounds-

After crossing through the stables to get to the first of three sizeable gardens - with a few smaller ones along the way.

Many sculpture pieces adorn the gardens

most are well manicured but there are occasional "wilder" areas

So that about covers the grounds - next post on to the interior and courtyard of the main house.
