Hump day comes so soon

Wednesday came very quickly.  We chose the lunch restaurant because we had eaten here on our last trip in 2022. It is Lyonnaise and every French person knows that the best food in France is in Lyon. The place is called Les Mauvais Garcons. We came for the quenelles. And it did not disappoint. Bubbling hot lobster sauce and exactly as we had pretty much every day in Lyon. (Best food city in France - just ask the Parisians). The guys had chicken. Larry and I started with onion soup and Phil with escargots. Too full for dessert (and did we mention across the street from our apartment is a wonderful patisserie? So we have pastries for afternoon "tea time." Angela and Lee will arrive around 5 pm today. Just in time for a treat.

Larry, Phil and I spent the afternoon relaxing and snacking on pastries (boo-hoo!) and Angela and Lee arrived around 5:30. We all hung out for conversation and catching up with lives now lived in three different countries. Our dinner was scheduled for 8 PM as there were no 8:30 or 9 PM reservations available. The restaurant was excellent, expensive and elusive-as in hard to find. Google maps told us the wrong corner a block away and then when Lee finally located the building it was like a game show - which door was the actual entrance (secret - but others knew so we followed them in LOL)

The place was named La Société and the food was terrific. The Service however did not match...My post went like this:
Our fancy meal this week at La Société. Celebrating Angela & Lee's arrival.  Food was all excellent, the service did not match the high quality of the ingredients but we all enjoyed the evening. Starters included salmon, tuna/avocado, shrimp frite, and a luxe salad. The mains: a steak, lamb chops, risotto, veg curry, and scallops. And Phil topped it off with a pavlova. Perhaps the prettiest of the items we had.

As we left the restaurant Lee took a photo of all of us!

We went home and had a bit of together time before heading off to bed.  This was the biggest advantage of renting an apartment big enough for all. Private space for family relaxing and just being together. <3

Lee unfortunately had to return to England the next day as their Clarence was ill and needed attention. Angela would stay until the end of the week as she wanted time with her family and Lee would handle the "home front". We were sorry he couldn't stay but we all understood. In the morning he walked with us to the Musee d'Orsay and then took the RER to Gare du Nord and the Chunnel train to London.  Stay tuned for the rest of the week!
