January vacation (part 2)

A photo of Phil and Lee on a walk through their favorite garden in town-

Well, about dinner at Sebastian 57 - we loved it last year. This year - not so much -food was good but the service had fallen dramatically since we were there last year. We wondered if they were still Michelin listed because it was not Michelin level service at all. We had really touted this place to Lee and we were disappointed that it wasn't even close to the experience we had last year. Probably won't return. (Note: photo of the scallop course was missed)

So that brought us to Sunday and we still had the car for tomorrow's clockwise circumnavigation of the island (photos in reverse order?!?)

our lunch place at the Hotel Tivoli near Adeje

a stop on the way to lunch at a beach with a mountain LOL-

a lot of para sailing happening here-

Home for dinner - at Restaurant Guannabi - which was great- We all ordered the chicken for dinner. Lee and I shared the chicken in mustard cream sauce. Phil had the traditional roasted chicken. The fries were perfectly crispy and the veggie platter had a lot of variety - something for everyone. A nice wine to go along. What's not to like?

So we had a lovely Sunday out and dinner was good- things going well. Monday brought laundry day for me and long walks for Lee and Phil. We grabbed lunch at a nearby bar, Bodequita Canaria. I had the salad and grilled cheese and Phil had the egg scramble and Lee had a fish smothered in peppers.

Monday night we had a lackluster dinner at Lebeche (again which we had liked a year ago with Larry) - two arroz dishes shared and various appetizers shared -

Tuesday Steve and Suzanne arrived mid day and we had early dinner plans at Etereo. Meanwhile Phil and I had lunch on leftover pizza from the other night (still good) when Lee went for a hike somewhere - lost rack of the mountain hikes he took over the ten days. It was a fabulous dinner tonight with Steve and Suzanne Friedman who arrived today. Best we have had on Tenerife and rivaling our first choice in Sevilla as well. Every element of the meal was perfect. A great kick off for S&S' time in Spain.

starters-

the mains - everyone loved theirs

and three desserts -

The next morning the three early risers went for a treacherous hike in the mountains - S&S were determined to have hiking poles so they found a place to rent them but it turned out a store in town sold them for less than the cost of rental and no hassle of pick up or drop off .... winning!

After the trek they met up with us at the arepa place for a lunch- we had liked a lunch last year

stopped for coffee and dessert afterward

waled a bit around town

So that brought us to a full week into our trip to a warm weather getaway... which is was not warm but it was a get away.... more to follow in part 3.
