our first stop on our way to Samarkand is a ceramic makers home and business. We see how the brother throw their clay and the glazing technique they use- and learn about the family business for several generations (I think they in the 5th or 6th at this point) and of course for the shopping folks there are opportunities to buy buy buy...
from here we head directly to Samarkand with only a bathroom stop along the way since we will be in Samarkand for a late lunch- an excellent meal at Oasis Garden...
we checked into the hotel and less than a half hour later we were out again because bad weather is expected tomorrow so Abdu wanted to add Registan Square today so we don't end up in going in the rain. So off we went to the Mausoleum of Tamerlane (Timur the Lame) -which is lovely...
from there (after picking up Tim who had missed the bus LOL) we went to Registan Square- but there are so many photos of this masterpiece that I will do that in the next post... stay tuned
