it was peaceful and beautiful at night-
the next morning we were back for the day- seeing the sights
synagogue souvenir shop
shopping at the market and in the shops and along the wall-
and walking around the wall-
and lunching in one of Johnny Apple's favorites- Proto
by the late afternoon we had tired feet but happy hearts as we had stunningly beautiful weather for such a perfect day.
but the day held more for us, as we had a home hosted meal in a village in the hills above Dubrovnik. seven of us visited a family farm and got to see their meat smoking and cheese making and were well fed with fabulous proscut, cheese, cabbage rolls and amazing mashed potatoes! we were also entertained by the younger son of the household who played his accordion for us.
a welcome drink of brandy, along with dried figs
perhaps the cat made the wine!
starters of house made proscut and cheese and bread!
the grandfather played the three stringed "violin" and the grandson the accordion:
we had a really wonderful evening and headed back to our small ship well sated and grateful for the evening shared with lovely folks who welcomed us into their home.
