the Stories story and more

we pulled into the hotel - the Lord Nelson around 3:30 and found they were not ready to check us into our room... we cooled our heels in the bar - and found a fabulous ginger beer (Propeller) and then got settled in after 4:15 PM.... we walked to dinner at Stories located in the Haliburton Hotel (very small hotel located in a group of old homes near the waterfront)

the meal was everything the reviews said it would be - located in tow small room off the reception area - there were roughly 20 seats... and the food was excellent! I had the best crab cakes of my life as a starter!

Phil had a charcuterie plate-

I had the salmon (NOT overcooked!)

Phil had beef-

a Pinot Noir from BC-

a wonderful berry crumble and something chocolate for Phil-

I will finish the food all in this one post- the next night a wonderful meal again- at Gio in the Prince George Hotel (bigger place) but another good meal-

an amuse of shrimp and a chili slaw-

my foie gras starter and Phil's carpaccio-

an intense intermezzo of sorbet-

another BC wine - tonight the Chenin-

Phil's lobster and my fabulous Char dish with excellent risotto (almost drowns out the memory of the inedible risotto at Trio in Sydney NS)

I was too stuffed for dessert but Phil had the "peanut butter and jelly" (which also had some chocolate- LOL so he could call it dessert)

both really good meals and not surprisingly the very best we had on the trip- in the largest city we visited... the next post will be about our touring time in Halifax - our last day on the trip.... so you are almost done with the Maritime Provinces trip (we only has two weeks so were limited to NB and NS on this trip..maybe PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador the next time we head up there!
